Mitchell Robinson is Apparently No Longer on Western Kentucky's Campus
So this continues to be an absolutely crazy thing to follow. Mitchell Robinson, a top-10 recruit and five-star recruit, has followed Rick Stansbury from Texas A&M to Western Kentucky. Ever since that commitment it’s always been a little weird feeling about it. First it was if Stansbury was going to get one of the power-five jobs like an LSU opening. Then it was Robinson is going to just play overseas, make a little bit of money and declare for the draft. The other rumor out there is he’s going to say screw it and play for one of the blueblood programs.
This especially heightened when Shammond Williams left the Western Kentucky coaching staff. Shammond Williams (yes, that UNC point guard) is extremely close to Robinson and was seen as arguably the most important reason to him attending Western Kentucky (along with Stansbury). Throw in the fact we’ve seen guys do this before, it’s not completely insane to think an 18-year old will jump overseas for a year, make some nice money then make even better money after being a lottery pick.
So things looked alright just 18 days ago when Robinson was on campus and practicing. But, this report just broke today and now all hell broke loose again. I don’t even want to attempt to make a guess on what the hell he’s going to do, but it feels like he’s about to just go overseas. Either way if you’re Western Kentucky, you should be pretty terrified of this. They had a legit chance to be a top-25 team with him on the roster.
